FAUNE is a multiscreen film installation derived from the dance performance choreographed to Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune by Sasha Waltz for her dance company, Sasha Waltz and Guests.

The starting point was to let the dancers improvise in he wilderness of a mytological forest outside of Berlin where the fundamentals of the coreography emerged . Contradicting that, the experience was then recreated in the controlled environment of a film studio. While some of the material was indeed used as backdrop to the live performance, the decison was made to create a standalone film to be screened in a gallery environment.
