Amos Rex

Opened in late 2018 in the heart of Helsinki, this museum is a legacy of Amos Andersen, a 20th century industrialist and art collector.

Built underground and accessed through the 1920s modernist Lasipalatsi cinema and shopping complex, the hidden building’s most radical feature is the public space surrounding the concrete funnels leading daylight into the galleries underneath.

Apart from showing the gallery spaces, the film explores how the public has taken ownership of the new plaza and reveals the restored interior of the historic Rex cinema.
